RICHMOND, Indiana - August 27, 2003 - ACE USA, the U.S.-based operating division of the ACE Group of Companies, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its office in Richmond, Indiana. Opened in 1953, the office has been a mainstay of the Richmond community and the insurance industry, and has provided career opportunities for hundreds of local residents.
"Over the past 50 years, our Richmond office has distinguished itself as one of ACE's premier processing centers," said ACE USA President Susan Rivera. "The staff is recognized throughout the company for its dedication, professionalism and outstanding service. While much has changed during the last 50 years, our Richmond office is living proof that exceptional service and quality work do not go out of date."
ACE USA's roots in Richmond date to 1953, when the Insurance Company of North America, now a part of the ACE Group of Companies, established a regional operations center at 120 North Ninth Street in the original Morton High School building. Constructed in 1910, the facility underwent extensive remodeling, although the exterior of the building, including decorative tile work on the Ninth Street side, was preserved. The office's initial responsibilities included underwriting, accounting, statistical and other essential operating functions.
Today, the Richmond office serves as the leading processing center for ACE USA's premiums and losses. The facility supports nearly all of ACE USA's business units with premium and underwriting services, claims services and other support functions. Its 140 associates are among the industry's most experienced, averaging more than 20 years of service.
