PHILADELPHIA – March 12, 2007 – ACE USA and ACE Overseas General today announced the appointment of Robert J. Gaffney, Senior Vice President, to lead ACE’s newly-formed Global Services Unit. In this new position, Mr. Gaffney will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of ACE products and services through ACE’s global network of offices.
Based in Philadelphia, Mr. Gaffney will report jointly to John Lupica, President and Chief Executive Officer, ACE USA, and to Ed Clancy, President and Chief Operating Officer, ACE Overseas General.
“Our insureds have a global view of risk and demand a coordinated and broad approach from their insurance providers,” said Mr. Lupica. “It is imperative that ACE takes an industry leadership position in this regard.”
Mr. Clancy added, “Global customers have specialized needs in claims, loss control and policy issuance. Bob and his team will be focused on the delivery of the ACE global network of sophisticated risk management programs and services to both U.S. and global customers while providing access to our vast global network of claims and underwriting specialists.”
With more than 35 years of insurance industry experience, Mr. Gaffney rejoins ACE from Liberty Mutual Alternative Markets, where he most recently served as President. While at ACE, he previously served as President, ACE USA Program Division. His past work experience also includes senior financial and insurance leadership positions at PMA Capital Group, USF&G, and an ACE predecessor organization. Mr. Gaffney received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, and an M.B.A. from Philadelphia University.
