PHILADELPHIA - March 25, 2004 - ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of The ACE Group of Companies, today announced the appointment of John Alfieri as Regional Executive - New York Region. Based in New York City, Mr. Alfieri will be responsible for setting and driving the overall strategic direction for the ACE USA New York Region, which comprises the Metro New York City area and parts of northern New Jersey. He will have responsibility for the regional production plan, distribution, product sales and marketing, producer management, staff management and overall operations.

Mr. Alfieri joins ACE USA with more than 23 years experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President & Managing Director with Willis North America, where he oversaw the expansion of the large account practice area for Willis Risk Solutions. Previously to Willis, Mr. Alfieri was an Executive Vice President with Munich-American RiskPartners. Earlier in his career, Mr. Alfieri held risk management and underwriting positions with Texaco; Heddington Insurance Ltd., Texaco's captive company in Bermuda; and AIG.
A frequent industry speaker, Mr. Alfieri has published articles in publications including Captive Review magazine and Leader's Magazine. He is a graduate of the State University of New York, Plattsburgh, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics. He also has completed graduate work in economics and finance at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn.
