PHILADELPHIA - April 22, 2004 - ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of The ACE Group of Companies, today announced the appointment of Dennis Crosby as Senior Vice President and Regional Executive - Southeast Region. Based in Atlanta, Mr. Crosby will be responsible for setting and driving the overall strategic direction for ACE USA's Southeast Region, which comprises North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida. He will have responsibility for the regional production plan, distribution, product sales and marketing, producer management, staff management and general operations.

"Dennis' extensive experience in leading and developing commercial and specialty commercial insurance organizations will help us to increase our presence in the Southeast Region. In addition, his familiarity with the Southeast Region and in leading regional operations will further solidify ACE USA's local management team and contribute to our continued growth in the region."
A senior property and casualty insurance executive, Mr. Crosby joins ACE USA after 23 years at The St. Paul Companies. Most recently, he was President-Commercial Middle Market, responsible for the profit and loss of the company's commercial lines business nationwide. From 2000 until 2002, he served as Senior Vice President-U.S. Insurance Operations, where he managed profit and loss east of the Mississippi. Earlier he served as Regional Executive and Vice President, Commercial for The St. Paul's seven-state Southeast Region, and Vice President-Public Sector Services, where he led the unit's launch in 1994. He joined The St. Paul in 1980 and also held various underwriting and management roles throughout the Southeast, Texas and at company headquarters between 1980 and 1994.
Mr. Crosby holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. He has served on the board of the Young Audiences of Atlanta since 2001.
