PHILADELPHIA - February 4, 2004 - ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operations of the ACE Group of Companies (NYSE: ACE), today announced the appointment of Brian Duffy as Senior Vice President, ACE Select Markets. Based in Philadelphia, Mr. Duffy will be responsible for the development and management of new personal lines products within ACE Select Markets as well as further enhancements to the recreational vehicle, collector auto and motorcycle insurance products. He also will be responsible for repackaging existing personal lines insurance products for new customer classes and distribution sources.
"With more than 25 years of experience, including significant management responsibilities, Brian is a proven leader in the personal lines insurance industry," said Patricia Goudarzi, Executive Vice President, ACE Select Markets. "His expertise and demonstrated experience in developing and managing new products will help ACE Select Markets as we continue to grow our specialty personal lines business and expand the scope and distribution of our products."
Mr. Duffy previously served as President of GE Auto and Home Insurance in Fort Washington, Pa. Prior to being named President in 2000, he was Chief Actuary. He also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary for Providian Auto and Home in Great Valley, Pa. and held pricing and actuarial positions with Colonial Penn Group in Philadelphia.
Mr. Duffy holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from Widener University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He also holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional designations.
ACE Select Markets, a division of ACE USA, focuses on the underwriting and marketing of specialty insurance products targeted towards specific insurance buyers, affinity groups, small businesses and niche industries.
